Neurodivergence in Captive Whales

A clear analysis of these articles shows some common threads amongst whales in captivity. First of all comes the obvious distinction of considerable reduction in life expectancy: 30 years versus 50. Next is a sense of what could be described as apathy or depression from the low amount and/or complete lack of pod interaction. Lacking in freedom and the opportunity to socialize, the compact enclosures cannot hope to replicate the ocean’s magnitude. They have been affected by captivity quite considerably, and I will hope to offer a glimpse into how I perceive that life through their eyes with a fictional story below.
